Richard John Fevold passed from this life peacefully on Nov. 4, 2021, at the age of 96. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 106 Osage Ave, Bismarck. The family requests that service attendees please wear masks.
Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
He was born to Joseph and Clarabelle Fevold in Baldwin and grew up in Bismarck with four siblings now deceased: Eugene, Doris, Norman, and Joseph Jr. He attended Bismarck Schools, graduating in 1943. That fall he enlisted in the United States Navy and spent three years of service mainly in the South Pacific on the USS Bladen. Upon his discharge, he enrolled at St. Olaf College, graduating in 1950. The following December, he married Judith Marie Voxland. They were blessed with two children, Mark Richard and Janet Marie. Mark passed away in 1970.
He worked for Dayton’s and Donaldson’s in Minneapolis for a short time, followed by a long career in the Social Security Administration, which took him to Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Huron, South Dakota; Thief River Falls, Minnesota; Fargo, North Dakota; and lastly, Bismarck, North Dakota. He retired in 1987.
He made lifelong friendships enjoying hunting, golf, and church activities.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Judy; daughter, Janet (Robert) Dixon; and two grandchildren, Cole and Marie Decker; one sister-in-law, Ardeth (Joseph, Jr.) Fevold; and many nieces and nephews.
