She was born on January 29, 1933, to Paul and Christine (Senger) Schumacher on the family farm north of Zeeland, ND. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She met the love of her life, Jerome, in 1951; they were marred on October 12, 1953 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They farmed north of Zeeland and in the 1960’s they moved to Bismarck. Together they raised six sons, Larry, Alan, Timothy, David, Mark, and Jerome.
Ann and Jerome were members of the St Mary’s Parish for over 60 years and provided a Catholic education for their six sons. She was a dedicated mother to her boys. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Altar Society and the Homemakers Association. Once her children were established in school, she worked various jobs outside of the home. The job she enjoyed the most was her role in food preparation for the Bismarck Public Schools, until her retirement.
Ann thoroughly enjoyed crocheting afghans, quilting blankets, and embroidering dish towels. She loved playing pinochle with family and friends and vacationing to warmer climate during the cold ND winters. She also enjoyed baking and making German dishes; creamed chicken with freshly baked bread was her family’s favorite followed by her famous kuchen.
Ann will be forever missed by her children, Larry (Mary) of Kilkenny, MN, Alan (Robin) of Menoken, Tim (Jan) of Bismarck, David (Donna) of Menoken, Mark (Jackie) of Menoken, and Jerry of Bismarck; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bill (Mary) Schumacher of Hillsboro, ND and Jim Schumacher of Tempe, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (August 2020); sisters, Clara (Eugene) Lacher and Doris Thomas; and brothers, Leo, Tony, Ray, and Tom
