Gordon was born December 7, 1948 to Edward and Edna (Eberhardt) Anderson in Jamestown. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1966 and Valley City State University with his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. He served in the North Dakota National Guard for six years.
On June 30, 1971, Gordon married Deborah Telken and to this union three children were born, Angie, Sarah and Dusty. They moved to Bismarck in September 1984 and were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Throughout his career, he was a self-employed insurance agent.
Gordon’s passion in life was staying up to date with sports – especially the New York Yankees. He made many trips to watch the Twins play the Yankees in Minnesota, the Minnesota Wild, UND Hockey games and he rarely missed watching a Vikings game. He spent much of his time watching sports and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Deb and Gordon enjoyed planning and hosting family reunions. He could often be found playing cards and taught all of his kids to play pinochle and many other games.
Gordon is survived by his wife, Deborah; children, Angela (John) Maxson, Rosemount, Minn., Sarah (Bryan) Yantzer, Mandan and Dustin (Sarah) Anderson, Bismarck; grandchildren, Ashlee “AJ”, Paige (Brandon), Tyler, McKenzie, Charlie, Ben and Mason; siblings, Gary (Cheryl) Anderson, Jamestown, Gerald Anderson, Bismarck and Gail (Kurt) Kubik, Montrose, Colo.; several nieces and nephews and four godchildren, Troy Anderson, Erik Anderson, Becky Berg and Liza Kubik. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna Anderson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Freda Telken and sister-in-law, Barbara Berg.
The family would like to give special thanks to sister-in-law, Sandie Orr, who on Nov. 19, 2015, gave the gift of kidney donation to Gordy, further extending his life and the time we were able to spend with him.
Memorials are preferred to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.
