Dr. Harold Stolt, 85, Minot and formerly of rural Anamoose died on Saturday, October 30, 2021 from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Harold Emil Stolt was born on October 31, 1935 on the family farm near Anamoose, ND to Erwin and Lucy (Finneman) Stolt.  He was raised on the family farm, attended rural schools, graduated from Anamoose High School in 1952 prior to receiving his Standard Teaching Certificate.  He taught in rural schools for seven years and in Harvey prior to graduating from Minot State Teacher’s College in 1962.

Harold married Carol Olson on June 7, 1964 at the Evangelical United Brethren Church (now known as Faith United Methodist Church) in Minot.  They made their home in Minot where Harold taught at Washington Elementary School and at Campus School.  Then, he continued his education and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and his Doctorate from the University of North Dakota.  Dr. Stolt served as the Director of Student Teaching at Minot State University from 1977 until 1994 when he retired.  He had continued to make his home in Minot.

Dr. Stolt was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot where he served on the church council and taught Sunday School.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge and local, state and national education associations.  Also, he was a member of the Retired University Professors Association, Phi Delta Kappa, Association of Teacher Educators and was a past president of the Minot Area Retired Teachers Association and the North Dakota Reading Association.  He especially enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing and yard work.

Dr. Stolt’s loving family includes his wife of 57 years: Carol; daughter: Elizabeth Stolt of Minneapolis; grandchildren:  Katherine and Jackson; in-laws:  Bruce (Diane) Walker and several nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings:  Max (Joann) Stolt and Alice Ziesemer; infant brother: LeRoy, parents-in-law:  Kendall and Grace (Dwyer) Olson; in-laws:  Val Ann Walker and Marilyn (Floyd) Brehm. 

Celebration of the Life of Dr. Harold Stolt:  Friday, November 5, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church – Minot.  A livestream of the service will be available by using http://www.bethanylutheranminot.org/

Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot. Visitation:  Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.

Memorials are preferred to the Minot Public Schools Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
