Gene Helen Foubert

Gene Helen Foubert, 89, formerly of Minot passed away on October 30, 2021 at a Bakersfield, CA assisted living home.

Gene Helen Foubert was born on June 10, 1932 on the family farm near Newburg, ND to Adrian and Hattie (Ehlke) Foubert. She was raised on the farm and in Minot and attended Minot schools graduating from Minot High School in 1950. As a young adult she was employed at the Harrington Livestock Auction Sales Ring in Minot for many years. Gene and her best friend Ruth Shelkey moved to Bakersfield CA in 1958 and were both employed by Occidental Petroleum until Gene retired.

Every summer, Gene’s roots drew her back to North Dakota for a family visit. When she arrived with her new work gloves, the first thing she would want to do is plan work projects and the menu for the next two weeks. She loved to work on the farm no matter how difficult the job. More recently, her nephew Randy (Gayla) Kozy served as her chauffeur for the long drive.

Gene’s loving family includes her sisters: Beverly Kozy of Bakersfield and Donna Pederson of Minot and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gene was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws: Alex Kozy and Norman C. Pederson.

We will all miss our dear sister, aunt and mentor.

Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2022 in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot with her parents.
