Marlene Bender

Marlene Bender went to her Heavenly home on Oct. 11, 2021. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18 at Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held an hour prior at the church.

Burial will be held 12 p.m. Monday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Marlene was born on December 18, 1939 at Turtle Lake to Otto and Martha Schadler. She was raised in the Turtle Lake and graduated in 1957.

Marnie married Bob Bender on July 11, 1957, and they moved to Seattle/Tacoma, Washington, and lived there while Bob was in the military. They moved back to Bismarck in 1959 where Marlene worked mostly in the accounting field for 35 years.

She loved books – reading them and sharing them with people. She also loved camping, fishing and traveling. She enjoyed being around people, especially the children, and always said that her greatest treasure was her number one son.

Marlene is survived by her son, Kevin Scott.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Bob; and her parents.

Marlene left this message to her many wonderful friends: “Cry if you must, but don’t be sad. Remember, Jesus loves you and so do I – hug each other.”
