Mark “Gus” Renden, 68, Bismarck, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St. Alexius Hospital.
Mark Gustav was born to Walter and Marie (Materi) Renden on January 3, 1953, in Bismarck, ND. He was raised in Bismarck, attending Cathedral GradeSchool and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1971.
Gus attended the University of Mary and University of North Dakota before moving to Minneapolis where he worked for over 17 years as a supervisor to disabled people in a vocational setting. He then moved to Seattle, WA to help his sister, Mary Katherine, in her catering business before going to work for Towers Perrin in an administrative assistant role, retiring in 2005 due to health issues.
In 2007 Gus moved to Denver to be near his brother Paul, until 2009, when he moved to Bismarck to be near his brother Michael. Gus enjoyed spending time on his computer and researching mysteries of the Universe. He appreciated all things science fiction and had a green thumb, especially with orchids. Gus also was fluent in speaking French and was once married to Roland Dupre, a foreign exchange student from France who he met while attending the University of Mary.
He is survived by his brothers, Michael (Ardyth) Renden, Bismarck and Paul (Janet) Renden, Broomfield, CO; niece and nephews, Joni (Jon) Kilzer, Maple Grove, MN, Scott Renden, Bismarck, Christopher Renden Boulder, CO and Matthew Renden, Westminster, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Marie Renden and his sister, Mary Katherine Ghaly.
