William (Bill) (Butch) Cleveland died peacefully in his sleep on August 12, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

Plans for his final sendoff will be handled by Parkway Funeral Service. Cremation has taken place. The service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, August 16. Family will start greeting visitors at 11:30 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery.

He was born in Bismarck on June 9, 1943 to William and Doris (Radspinner) Cleveland. He attended schools in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1961. He attended BJC where he met his wife, Mary Ellen Simpfenderfer. They were married in 1963 and had a wonderful and adventurous life together for 58 years.

Known as Butch to family and friends, he lived life searching for new adventures and soaking up knowledge of just about everything. He and Mary were partners at all times, motorcycling, sailing, skiing, hiking, biking and photography. His final passions were woodworking and golfing. Many summers were spent at Lake Tschida and winters in a California golf community.

He will be terribly missed by his wife, Mary; daughter, Wendy (Lance) Siegel, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; son, David (Laura) Fraser, Colo.; two grandchildren, Elizah Siegel and Wil Cleveland; sister, Nancy (Anthony) Betterton, Gilmer, Tex.; brother-in-law, Doug (Kathy) Simpfenderfer and sister-in-law, Janet (Rick) Bjorklund.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Doris Cleveland and father and mother-in-law, Emil and Elsie Simpfenderfer.
