Ruth V. Lane, 95, Minot, formerly of Sawyer, died Sunday, August 8, 2021 in a Minot Assisted Living Center.

Ruth was born February 25, 1926 at Fargo, North Dakota, the daughter of Erik and Louise (Valbo) Solberg. She was raised on the family farm in Kidder County and attended country schools in that area before graduating from Steele High School in 1943.

Ruth was united in marriage to Byron Lane on January 5, 1944. They made their home in Jamestown, Hazelton, Island Park, MN, Linton, Minot and Sawyer throughout the years. Ruth assisted her husband in the operation of the family business – Lane Sheet Metal, a heating and air conditioning business, partnering with Red and Evelyn Knopfle. Later they would own and operate Lane Vent Fast. Byron died June 30, 2001.

Ruth was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot. She was active with the local Republican Party, member of the Scandinavian Heritage Association and served as a guardian for Hostfest.  

Ruth enjoyed traveling, sewing, reading and gardening.

Her loving family includes: grandsons, Peter (Lisa) Pittman of Golden, CO and Brian (Beth) Pittman, St Paul, MN; great grandchildren: Brock, Julia and James Pittman.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; husband of 57 years, Byron; daughters, Christi and Cheryl, along with her sister Augusta Marie, 2 infant sisters and an infant brother.

Funeral service:  Monday, August 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation:  At her request there will not be a viewing, however friends may sign a memorial register book on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
