Virginia Marie Stremcha, 85, Minot, died Sunday, January 18, 2026, in a Minot nursing home.
Virginia was born January 28, 1940 in St. Vincent, MN to Sterling and Ruth (Deter) Wandel. Due to the family moving around she was raised and educated in various places.
Virginia married Roland “Rollie” Stremcha on November 16, 1956 in Minot. This union was blessed with three daughters.
Virginia was employed at The Blue Moon and Silver Spur in Surrey along with being the caretaker of their children.
Rollie and Virginia divorced in 1967. She married Loris “Shorty” Vollmer and they were blessed with a son. They were later divorced. Virginia and Rollie remarried on August 15, 1975 and were together until Rollie passed away on March 12, 2020.
Virginia enjoyed traveling with Rollie across the country in their motor home, visiting their children and grandchildren, whom she adored very much. She loved taking care of her pets, especially Sassy, her cat, who was her companion.
Virginia will be missed by all who shared in her life.
Virginia’s loving family includes her daughters Sherry (Dale) Kashakitis, Riverview, FL, and Sharon (Gary) Powell, Golden Valley, AZ, son Eddie (Maryann) Vollmer, Minot, ND, 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rollie, daughter ShellyJo Laber, ex-husband Loris “Shorty” Vollmer and sister Dorothy Hamilton.
Celebration of Virginia’s Life: 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2026, at the Thomas Family Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, January 22nd from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
