Arthur “Art” was born November 14, 1926, at home in Otter Creek Township, the son of Arthur and Alma (Johnson) Weekes.  The family homesteaded along Otter Creek and Art later took over the farm/ranch operation from his parents.  Arthur married Darlene Carlson on Oct. 7, 1955, and they made their home on the Weekes Ranch.

Art enjoyed the outdoors and dedicated his life to farming and ranching; you could always find him outside working with his cattle or in the fields.  His day started off with a couple of cups of coffee with his wife, children, and later grandchildren. You could frequently find Art’s children or grandkids doing chores, checking cows, or riding in the tractor with him.  He made time for them even if he was busy.  He was always there to lend a hand to help his family and friends when the need arose.  When they retired and moved to Carson, he helped local farmers and neighbors with farming and remodeling projects. Over the years, many family, friends, and neighbors shared a cup of coffee with him.

Art was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, served on the board, and also ushered. He was the chairman of the Otter Creek Township for many years as well as a board member of Fairhill Cemetery.

Art is survived by the family he so loved having near him, including Dennell Hill, Carson, Doreen (Tom) Yantzer, Mandan, Arthur (Barb) Weekes, Carson, Patsy Hauge, Leith, and Denise Weekes, Plymouth, MN; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Mearldean Carlson, Bismarck.

Art was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son-in-law, Danny Hague; brothers, Gordon (Dorothy), John, Alvin (Helena), Anton (Florence), and Norman (Bonnie); and sister Leanora (Oliver) Wright.
