
Ron R. Waliser, of Garrison, passed away peacefully from this life on May 16, 2025, after a gradual decline in health following a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. Immediate cremation has taken place, with a celebration of life at a later date at his “church” home in Garrison.
Ron was born on August 31, 1953, to Michael Sr. and Martina (Mosset) Waliser. He was raised on the family farm in Selfridge, ND. He graduated from Selfridge High School in 1971 and attended NDSU Bottineau for two years. He began his 30-year career with Bobcat in 1973. In 2001, he changed careers and bought the Field Bar in New Salem, which he ran until his retirement in 2018. In 2021, he bought a church in Garrison and remodeled it with his wife into a loving home.
His passions in life were fishing, hunting, and collecting artifacts.
He always claimed that he moved to New Salem to meet the love of his life, Jenny Sue. They were married in 2014.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Jenny; his children, Shane Waloch, Christopher (Denise) Waliser, Renee (Matt) Smalley, Nicholas (Courtney) Waliser; sisters, Betty Waliser, Patricia (John) Aldinger, Diane Waliser; brothers, Robert (Sandra) Waliser, Joseph (Carol) Waliser; in-laws, Barbara Diebert, Jim (Barbara) Olson, Margie (Warren) Opp, Candace (Paul) Johnson, Alice (Jeff) Morse, Jerry (Karen) Olson; stepchildren, Nathan, Joseph, Genesis (Keith) Waterfield, Miranda, and numerous grandchildren; and his special furry buddy, Floyd Barker.
Ron was preceded in death by, his parents; his mother-in-law, Josephine Nagel; sisters, Ann Hoon, Mary Volmuth, Helen Holzer, infant sister Cathleen; brother, Jim Waliser, Michael Waliser, and George Waliser.
