Scott Allen Kerzmann, age 52, of Garrison, passed away at the Garrison Memorial Hospital Nursing Center with his precious mother near his side on March 26, 2025.

He was born the fourth child and third son to Wilfred (Butch) and Dianne Kerzmann on July 5,1972.

Scott was raised on the family farm west of Garrison. He, like his entire family was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed many hours of his youth exploring the farm with his faithful Collie dog Luke (and later his adopted little mutt named Dinky). He enjoyed taking walks with his faithful friends. Once Scott got tangled in a fence a little ways from the farm and his dogs stayed with him until he was found a short while later. Another time he wanted to see his Uncle Glen and Aunt Dorothy so he decided to walk with his dogs to their house before anyone realized he was gone. Scott walked fast…just like his dad.

He would occasionally venture off to the barnyard and someone would find him checking on the horses and cows who had a sense of how special he was. We were always amazed at how the animals were unbothered by his presence around them. He was never harmed by them.

Scott got excited about the sound of geese flying over and the sounds of tractors, combines, motorcycles and snowmobiles.

He enjoyed riding motorcycle and snowmobile with his older brother Mike and wrestling (pestering) his younger brother David. His favorite (only) sister Julie took him for joy rides in her yellow Mazda and was the instigator for many unmentionable adventures.

Scott’s older brother and roommate James passed away in November of 2021. Scott and James would talk in their own special language to each other at night. They had a special bond. We believe that he really missed his brother and they are now reunited.

Up until the last seven months of his life, Scott’s mom took care of the majority of his needs, and she knew what was best for him. Before he passed away in 2015, Scott’s dad Butch chose to do a lot of things for him that other dads may have had a difficult time doing. But above all, they both loved him unselfishly.

Scott never held a grudge and he had a smile for anyone. He was a very happy-go-lucky guy. We all feel so blessed to have had him in our lives he made all of us better humans and he will be missed immensely.

He is survived by his mother, Dianne, his sister Julie (Mark) Retterath, Garrison; his brothers, Mike (Kari) Kerzmann, Garrison, David (Sara) Kerzmann, Garrison, eleven nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews.

Scott was proceeded in death by his father, Wilfred “Butch” Kerzmann, brother, James Kerzmann, his grandparents John C. and Dorothy Kerzmann, John H. and Pearl Basaraba.

Scott also had many special caregivers and friends who have been a part of his journey in this life. His family has truly been blessed by the compassion of all of them. We thank all of you.
