Donna Lawson, 78, Minot, died Thursday, March 6, 2025, in her home.

Donna Kay Lawson (Kluck) was born on October 23, 1946, to Cyril and Marie (Schmidt) Kluck in Minot, North Dakota. She was raised in Minot and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in 1964.

Donna began her career at NSP, later SRT, in Minot in 1975, and became the first lineman woman to climb telephone poles. She worked various positions with the company in her 28 years and retired in 2003 at the age of 57. Donna was united in marriage to Monte Lawson in 1967. They welcomed three children together, Teryl, Scott and Daniel. They later divorced.

Throughout her life, Donna had many hobbies that she enjoyed. She frequently traveled, played softball for many years, and took pleasure in frequent trips to the casino. She especially enjoyed fishing and being at the lake, which provided her with many of her happiest memories. Later in life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren became her pride and joy. In the winter months, she enjoyed traveling south with her companion Mel Geiger, as they were certified snowbirds.

The quote “wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories” fully encapsulates Donna’s life. She was a special loving, one of a kind mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will forever be in our hearts.

Donna is survived by her children: Teryl McDaniel, Scott (Melissa) Lawson, and Daniel (Jen Boothe) Lawson all of Minot; grandchildren: Harold (Chelsea) McDaniel, Amber Edwards, Jack Dutenhafer, Grayson, Grant, Gavin, Hannah, Brynn, Karah, and Lane Lawson; great-grandchildren: Briley, Bria, and Bexley McDaniel, Weston and Jameson Edwards; siblings: Carol Hefter, Beverly (Richard) Stoffels, Kathy (Rodney) Holter, Gerolyn (Steve) Schaan, and Glen(Kathy) Kluck; brothers-in-law: Robert Vogel, Gary Smith and John Ross; sisters-in-law: Linda Kluck, Leatrice Caldwell, Verdell Richeson (Lloyd), and Adele Loe; former husband: Monte Lawson, and several nieces and nephews.
