Orvetta Andreson

Orvetta Andreson, 91, Minot, formerly of rural Deering, died Thursday, August 22, 2024, in her home.

Orvetta Cherrie Em (Kunkel) Andreson was born on June 15, 1933 to Jacob Rolandus “Dutchie” Kunkel and Orvetta (LaValley) Kunkel in Minot.

Orvetta graduated from Minot High School in 1950, and she married Loren “Swede” Andreson on April 4, 1952 in Gillette, Wyoming. They made their home on a farm in Kottke Valley Township of McHenry County near Deering. After Loren was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, the couple expanded the family farm by establishing Sweetwater Ranch where they raised Beefmaster cattle. After retiring from farming and ranching, they moved to Minot.

Orvetta’s largest legacy lies in her love and advocacy for children. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The individuals she brought under her wing as “adopted” children and grandchildren were a testament to her incredible faith and belief in goodness.

Orvetta is survived by her daughters, Cherie Em (David) Olson of Billings, MT, and Linda (Jeff) Brunner, Surrey; grandchildren, Carrie (Monte) Whitmer, Mark Olson, Katie (Max Scott) Olson, Amanda (Joseph) Duchsherer, and Amy (Michael Steier) Brunner; great grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Oliver, Emma, and Sadie; sister-in-law, Eline Kunkel; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister Rose; and brother Rolandus “Lannie”.

A private family service will be held with an interment at Rosehill Cemetery, rural Norwich.
Memorials are preferred to a domestic violence or child advocacy group of the donor’s choice.
