Carlotta Sue Wretling, 76, of Garrison, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024, at a Bismarck hospital after a brief battle with cancer.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the First Congregational Church, UCC, in Garrison, ND.
Carlotta was born on August 24, 1947, to Eugene and Madeline (Krantz) Vought. She was the youngest of six children. Carlotta was raised in Garrison and graduated from Garrison High School in 1965.
During high school, Carlotta met the love of her life, Wallace Wretling. They married in September of 1965 and made their home in rural Garrison. They were blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Kimberly, and Nicolle. Carlotta was a doting mother and wife who loved sewing clothes for her girls, and making her household run smoothly before she eventually joined the workforce when her children entered school. Carlotta worked many jobs in her lifetime, but it was apparent that her most important job was being a mother to her children.
Carlotta enjoyed the peace of living in rural Garrison and spent most of her free time tending to her gardens, and watching the wildlife that came through. Carlotta loved reading, and many craft-like hobbies. Carlotta enjoyed family gatherings with many of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for the gag gifts that went back and forth for many Christmases, never forgetting a birthday bag, complete with a bag of pistachios, and cool trinkets that brought a smile to their faces.
Carlotta is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wallace; children, Jeffrey (Madonna) Wretling, Kimberly (Chad) Rensch, both of Garrison, and Nicolle (Joel) Bauer of Coleharbor; grandchildren, Michael (Nikki) Wretling, Jessica (Steve) Lewis, Sara Stadick, Zachery Stadick, Savana (Jeremiah) Herman, Marquise (Ben) Hudgen, Jayden Rensch, Jackson Rensch, Christopher Bauer; eight great-children; and one brother, Doug Vought, of Tuscan AZ.
Carlotta was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Judy, Myrna, Victor, and Linda; mother and father in law, Homer and Lena Wretling.
