Leona Orne, 90, Minot died on Sunday, August 18, 2024 in a Minot hospital.
Leona Rose was born on January 22, 1934 in Bismarck, ND to Conrad and Caroline (Doerr) Flath. She was raised and educated in Driscoll, ND and graduated from Driscoll High School in 1952. As a young adult she was employed by Bell Telephone Company in Bismarck from 1952 until 1965.
Leona married Dale Orne on October 9, 1955 in Driscoll. They made their home in Bismarck prior to moving to Minot in 1965. She continued her employment with the telephone company in Minot until it ceased operation in 1977. Dale died on March 8, 1990. Leona returned to the working world in 1991 when she became employed at ManorCare Health. She retired in 2015.
Leona was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Minot where she was a volunteer and the Telephone Pioneers. She especially enjoyed flower gardening, golfing, embroidery, word searches and watching the Minnesota Twins, NASCAR, Dateline and 20/20.
Leona’s loving family includes her sons: James Orne and Jay Orne both of Minot; grandchildren: Sarah (Jeremy) Putt and Daniel (Heather) Orne; great grandchildren: Jason, Evan and Julia; in-laws: Connie Orne and Vonnie Orne and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant brother: Conrad Flath Jr. and in-laws: Ruby Wilson, Richard Orne, Nancy Reilly, Lloyd Orne and Jimmy Orne.

Funeral Service: Friday, August 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Minot.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens – Minot.
Visitation: Thursday, August 22, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
