Ruth Eileen Carlson passed away June 22, 2021 at her home in Steele. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2 at Eastgate Memorial Chapel, Steele.
Ruth was born November 11, 1960 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls and graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead (formerly known as Moorhead State University) in Moorhead, Minn., with a degree in Social Science. She worked as a county social service agent in Minnesota before moving to Steele and continuing in Social Work for Kidder County.
When Ruth wasn’t helping others, she enjoyed being with her niece and nephews growing up in North Dakota, especially during Christmas. As a Christian, Christmas was very special to her and being with them made it even more special. She also enjoyed time with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Dale and Marjorie Carlson.
Ruth is survived by her siblings, Janet Schermbeck, Ohio, Wanda Sobotka, Colorado, Barry Carlson, Minnesota, Katie Choi, Alberta, Canada, and Nancy Kittelson, North Dakota; friend, Thomas Beck; one niece and five nephews; and numerous cousins.
