Lorraine Faul, 87, Minot and formerly of Underwood died on Friday, August 9, 2024 in a Minot hospital following a brief illness. Her family was at her side.
Lorraine Yvonne Harju was born on July 4, 1937 in Wing, ND to Seth and Tyne (Eckholm) Harju. Lorraine’s father died from tuberculosis when she was two years old. She was then adopted by her mother’s second husband, Clifford Olson, at a young age. She was raised on a farm near Wing and attended rural school. Lorraine was once married to Mel Stebbins and they made their home in Underwood and were the parents of six children: Michael, Faye Ann, Shirley, Lori, Melanie and Merri.
Lorraine moved to Minot in 1974 where she obtained her G.E.D. and attended Minot State University. She then was a volunteer at Legal Assistance of North Dakota. In 1982 Lorraine married Richard Faul and continued to reside in Minot. Lorraine was a City Employee, working for both the Water Department & Police Department. Lorraine spent the majority of her career working for the Ward County Sheriff’s Department where she served as the Administrative Secretary to both Sheriff Art Anderson & Sheriff Vern Erck. Lorraine worked for the Ward County Sheriff’s Department for 18 1/2 years, retiring in 2002. Lorraine’s husband, Richard died on November 2, 2019. Most recently, Lorraine had resided at the Wellington Assisted Living Center.
Lorraine was a former member of Augustana Lutheran Church – Minot and attended the Mennonite Brethren Church – Sawyer and Southside Church of the Nazarene – Minot. She was also a member of the Eagles Aerie. She especially enjoyed watching sports, bingo and an occasional trip to the casino in her younger years.
Lorraine’s loving family includes her children: Michael (Tanya) Stebbins of Bismarck, Faye Ann Stebbins of Minot, Shirley (Neal) Repnow of Underwood, Lori (Jay) Frothinger of Burlington, Melanie (Scott) Geiger of Minot and Merri (Ron) Milke of Eden Prairie MN; eight grandchildren: Faye Elizabeth, Eric, Megan, Nikki, Bobbi, Josh, Andrew & Matthew: eight great grandchildren:
Kyle, Kamie, Briggs, Hannah, Emily, Wyatt, Hailey, Mitchell ; sister: Julie (RJ) Smith of Hazelton ND; brother: Clifford Olson of Winnemuca NV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband & grandson, Jason Frothinger.
Celebration of the Life of Lorraine Faul: Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Southside Church of the Nazarene – Minot. A delayed stream of the service will be available on Friday by accessing https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Interment will be in Rosehill Memorial Park – Minot.
Visitation: Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice.
