Patricia Nylander

Patricia Nylander, 83, Minot, formerly of Wildrose and Williston, died Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in her home.

Patricia Claire Tracey was born June 26, 1941 in Wildrose, ND to parents Roy and Lyla (Haugen) Tracey. She grew up in Wildrose, attending rural schools, and later graduated from Wildrose High School.

Following High School, Patricia attended classes for a year at St. Theresa College in Winona, Minnesota. She then moved to Williston, where she worked at a bank. She grew up a class behind her husband Merle Nylander in Wildrose. The couple married in 1962.

Patricia and Merle moved back to Wildrose, where they made their home for many years. While Merle was operating Nylander Construction, Patricia worked at Citizens State Bank, where she served as a manager. Later, the couple moved to Ray where Patricia continued her work at Citizens State Bank, and also joined Merle working at Nylander Construction, where she took on a role as the company accountant. She held these positions until retiring in 2002.  She then spent ten years as an aide at Mercy Hospital in Williston, working part-time.  After Patricia and Merle both retired, they moved to Minot to be closer to the grand kids.

Patti and Merle never missed a game when Mark and Raye Ann were playing a sport in school, they followed the sports wherever the team went.  They continued this tradition with the grandkids with Tyler’s football and music.  They spent much time camping and fishing when the kids were growing up. Patti was a 4-H Leader for many years. She loved to sew until her arthritis got the best of her.  She was always making things for others, such as kites for kids and Christmas decorations for the family. Patti’s baking was magical.  Whenever she made fresh buns, Tyler, Breanna and friends would come from all corners of Minot to have some; they would never last long.  She also loved visiting with friends and family and really looked forward to her Wednesday lunch dates with friends, as well as the condo block parties.

Patti was a member Little Flower Catholic Church. She never missed weekly mass, first Saturday celebrations, or Catholic Daughters group events. She will be remembered most for the love she gave to her family, and for her life-long devote Catholic faith.
