Doyle Sorensen

Doyle Robert Sorensen was born on May 22, 1971, in Wishek, ND to parents Beth Eva (Sparling) and Howard Wayne Sorensen.  Doyle was raised, and attended elementary through high school, in Garrison, ND.  He enjoyed athletics/sports and played football and wrestled.  Doyle graduated from Garrison High School in 1989. 

After his high school graduation, Doyle enlisted with the US Army in 1990.  As an Infantryman with the 82D Airborne Division, he traveled to Panama, assisted with the Hurricane Andrew Disaster Relief, made many successful jumps, and earned numerous meritorious honors.  Doyle was honorably discharged from the US Army in 1994.

Doyle later attended Bismarck State College where he successfully completed the Electrical Lineworker program in 1998.  He began his lineman apprenticeship performing mainly contract work.  Doyle was employed by Ottertail Power Company after fulfilling the requirements of a journeyman lineman.  He lived and worked in Lisbon, ND, Bemidji, MN, and most recently, Wahpeton, ND. 

Doyle became a dedicated Buffalo Bills and NDSU Bison football fan.  He enjoyed his Harley, pickup, and working on his yard and house.  Doyle mostly enjoyed spending time with family and his close circle of friends and their families. 

He is survived by his brothers and their families: Chris & Donna, Hazen, ND and Scot & Robyn, Bismarck, ND; his niece and nephews: Erika (Connor), Brian (Megan), Brent (Abby), and Paul (Brittany).  

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beth and Wayne.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the First Congregational Church, UCC, in Garrison, ND. Burial will follow at the Garrison Cemetery.
