Julie Linn Knoll, beloved daughter, sister and aunt passed away on July 24, 2024 at the age of 58 due to natural causes. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Bismarck Funeral Home at 1:30pm.

She was born in 1965 to John Strandemo and Christine Vetter. Julie grew up in Bismarck, ND. When she was 11 years old, her mother bought her a guitar and guitar lessons and that is when Julie fell in love with playing music. At the age of 17, Julie joined a band named Sierra and began touring the midcentral states. A few years later Julie created the band, Live ‘N Kickin’ and moved to Nashville, TN and began recording her music. In 1992 after one of her recorded songs reached the top ten on the independent music chart, Warner Records signed with the band to produce an album and released a single called “You Don’t Need To Knock.” The song and video can currently be viewed and heard on YouTube.  While Julie toured many states playing her music including, We Fest, she and the band often came home to Pick City North Dakota where her mother owned the Dam Bar and she and the band would play for the whole town at the Dam Bar Bash.

During her visits home, Julie loved to hang out with her nieces and nephews and would make each one a personalized Christmas ornament every year.  They especially cherished the campfires at lake Sakakawea where Julie would tell great stories and play her guitar and sing songs.

In 2001 Julie moved back to Bismarck to be closer to family and began a career with Coventry Health. Julie would occasionally sing with local bands in Bismarck.  She also loved to garden and was famous amongst her family and friends for her delicious pickles and salsa.

Julie leaves behind her mother, Christine Bitz; sisters, Debra Eiseman (Brian), and Connie Todd (Mike) all of Bismarck; sister-in-law Kris Strandemo, Menoken; nieces Christy, Lisa, Jeana, Grace, and Jesse; nephews Rick, Luther, Logan and Ian; and many great nieces and nephews who will all miss her dearly.

Julie is preceded in death by her grandparents; father, John Strandemo; and her beloved brother Curtis Strandemo.
