Charles “Charlie” Albert Gage, 75, Minot, died Saturday, July 20, 2024 in a Minot hospice facility.
Charles was born on May 11, 1949 at Chula Vista, CA the son of Jack Leroy and Ithyl Mae (Taggart) Gage. He was raised and educated at Chula Vista and entered into active-duty service with the US Air Force in 1969. He honorably served his country until July 31, 1991.
Charlie was united in marriage to Gale Longmire on August 7, 1971 at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu. They made their home at various places while he was stationed with the Air Force. They came to the Minot Air Force Base in the early 1980’s.
After his retirement, Charlie worked civil service jobs for the USAF primarily with the roads and ground crews, calling themselves the “dirt boys”. He retired in 2017. They continued to make their home in Minot.
Charlie was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot. He had served as a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and enjoyed fishing, camping and tinkering on cars. His real joy in life was being an amazing father and grandfather.
His loving family includes wife of nearly 53 years; Gale; children, Charles Gage II, Cleveland, OH; Robert (Robyn) Gage, Detroit, MI and Katherine (Ernie) Bauer, Minot; 4 grandchildren to include: Carter and Olivia Gage and Elizabeth and Cameron Bauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jacquelyn Peterson.
Funeral Service: Friday, July 26, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, Minot
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the church on Friday.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to United Blood Services in honor of the many blood and platelet transfusions he received.
