Donna Kress, 93, formerly of Minot, Crosby and Fortuna, died Sunday, June 2, 2024 in a Bismarck nursing home.
Donna Mae was born on April 25, 1931 in Noonan, ND to Edwin and Agnes (Olson) Titterud. She was raised and educated at rural schools in the Noonan area, graduated from Crosby High School in 1949 and attended the University of Northern Montana – Havre. As a young adult she was employed at a clothing store in Crosby.
Donna married Russell E. Kress on May 24, 1951 in Camp Rucker, Alabama where Russell was stationed with the U.S. Army. During Russell’s military career, the couple resided at various military bases prior to Russell’s honorable discharge in 1953. They then made their home in Geraldine, MT for a short time prior to moving to Fortuna for twenty-five years where Donna was employed as a teacher’s aide and librarian at the Fortuna school. They moved to Crosby in 1979 before moving to Minot in 2000. Most recently, Donna was a resident of The View in Minot for 8 years and the Benedictine Living Center – St. Gabriel’s in Bismarck for the past three months.
Donna was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot and a former member, Sunday School teacher and Ladies Aide member at Faith Lutheran Church – Fortuna. She was also a member of a homemaker’s club in Fortuna and an active volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program in Crosby and provided manicures for the residents at a nursing home in Minot. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, baking, traveling, and bowling. She had a special interest in sewing clothes for her children.
Donna’s loving family includes her husband of 73 years: Russell; children: Cyndi (Mike) McIntee, Bottineau, Donnie (Janie) Kress, Bismarck, Jerry (Marla) Kress, Sammamish, WA, Rodney Kress, Bellevue, WA; grandchildren: Sara (Adam) Pachl, Michelle (Ryan) Bacon, Collin (Cassandra) McIntee, Michael McIntee, Derek (Alissa) Kress, Dustin Kress; great grandchildren: Posey McIntee, SadieAnn McIntee, Kaylani Kress, Kalea Kress, Maverick McIntee, Shane McIntee, Anson Pachl, Luke Bacon, Dominic Kress, Darrison Kress; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; son: Larry; sister: Carol Hall; brothers: Duane and Roger Titterud; grandson: Shane McIntee; and great granddaughter Kaitlyn Bacon.
Graveside Service: Friday, June 7, 2024 at noon in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery – rural Mandan. A delayed stream of the service may be viewed starting on Saturday by using https://www.mtmsales.net/thomas
Visitation: Thursday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army.
