A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Bismarck Funeral Home on June 21, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. for June Brinkman, 85 of rural Carson, N.D.  She passed away on May 3, 2024.  Officiating will be Pastor Bethany Haberstroh.  Her final resting place will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

June was born February 8, 1939, in Bismarck, N.D. to Gideon and Thelma (Boll) Eckman.  June attended elementary school in Brisbane and Raleigh, N.D. while her father was serving in the U.S. Navy and her mother was teaching school at Brisbane and Raleigh.  The family moved to Carson, N.D. in 1946 and June continued her education there, graduating from Carson High School in 1957.  She was Miss Grant County in 1956.

She married the love of her life, Ray Brinkman at the First Presbyterian Church in Carson, May 29, 1957.  They spent time in California while Ray was stationed in the U.S. Navy at Moffett Field.  After Ray was honorably discharged from the Navy they farmed and ranched 17 miles south of Carson, near the Cannonball River.

They raised their family and worked together on their farm and ranch for 43 years until Ray’s untimely death in 2000 of ALS.  June had been a Sunday school teacher and 4-H leader for several years.  She was also a weather observer for the North Dakota Atmospheric Resource Board.

Ray and June enjoyed spending their winters at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida for many years.  June continued to winter there until 2019.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, her husband, family, ranching, and farming defined June’s life.

June’s passions were maintaining her flower and vegetable gardens and maintaining a well-manicured lawn and farmstead.  She loved to bake.  Cinnamon rolls, homemade pizza and bread, and chocolate chip cookies were her specialties.  She was also a beautiful vocalist and was a church and community soloist.

The joys and blessings of life included her husband Ray, four beloved children, their spouses, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and her two canine companions, Shadow and Riley.

June will be forever missed by her children, April Brinkman (Dennis) Hoover of Deadwood, Alan Brinkman of Carson, Tim (Heather) Brinkman of Bismarck, Carollee Brinkman (Shadd) Young of Denver.  Grandsons, Chad (Breanna) Brinkman, Ray Brinkman, Ryan Brinkman and granddaughters, Morgan (Keith) Hapip, and Ella Young.  Great granddaughters Lydia, Tabitha, and Shoshana Hapip.

June was welcomed into Heaven by her husband, Ray, her parents, Gideon and Thelma Eckman and her beloved dogs, Shadow and Riley.

June always lived with an awareness of the care and guidance of God through her entire life.  The greatest blessing to her was the gift of faith in Jesus.
