Alice Porter Arnts, 95, passed away April 22, 2024, at a local hospital. Memorial services will be on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Alice was born March 18, 1929, to Conrad and Lydia (Leischner) Finck. She was raised in Logan County and graduated from Napoleon High School. She then went on to Bismarck and worked for the State Library Commission. She worked for the John Larson Company for 32 years, then the Gary Nelson Company for a few years.
She married Wayne Porter in 1951, he passed away in 1985. In 1990, she married Allen Arnts, the love of her life. They did many fun things together, including traveling, cross country skiing, camping, and enjoyed being with family gatherings. Allen’s daughter Michelle, husband KC, and their three children became her close Bismarck family. Allen died suddenly in 2004.
Alice enjoyed playing bridge, did some volunteer work, and took up bowling in her later years. She had a special friend, Earl Setterlund who shared her love for music and dancing. Earl passed away in 2020.
Alice moved to Edgewood Village in 2021, and was involved in many activities, including Bingo and art projects. She continued to enjoy the music and dancing opportunities and looked forward to a glass of wine at “happy hour “. She was fun loving, sharp, witty, and always young at heart. As she said, “I’ve lived a good, long life”. She will be greatly missed.
Alice is survived by one sister, Phyllis Shotkoski, Littleton, Colorado; two stepdaughters, Michelle (KC) Clayson, Bismarck, and Camille (Ray) Eisenmann, Florida; two stepsons, Tim Arnts, Virginia, and Doug (Julia) Rian, Maryland; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and one sister and a granddaughter.
