Dale Froemming, 79, Mandan, died April 12, 2024, in a Mandan care center.  Memorial services will be on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home.

Dale was born in Elgin, ND, on August 27, 1944, to Emil and Frances (Krecklow) Froemming.  He graduated high school in May 1962 and attended ND State College of Science in Wahpeton for one year.

Dale worked for ND Department of Water Resources (fna Water Commission) in Bismarck and Fisher Sand & Gravel in Dickinson before retiring.  Dale was very proud to open his own bait and tackle shop in Elgin and enjoyed running his business for 15 years.  Dale loved to tell stories and had a quiet and quick wit about him.  Dale was very talented in creating his own lures and fishing tackle.  It was not unlike Dale to be fully prepared to dig for worms at any given time to package and sell to catch many a whopper.

Dale was very active in the Elgin Lions Club for 42 years and received the Secretary award, Mel Jones award, was elected president and secretary several times, and held the position of director.  Dale also participated in Elgin’s Hamburgers in the Park.

Dale was married to Hazel Smith and had two children, Patrick and Ebony.  In October 1992, Dale married Janice Krein (Pfeifer) in Elgin and moved to Bismarck in 2020 to be closer to family and because of his declining health.

Dale is survived by his brother, David; his wife, Janice; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephew, niece, and dear friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

Rather than flowers, memorials may be given to Sanford Hospice, Bismarck.  Dale’s family would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff at Sanford Hospice and Miller Pointe for the amazing care, compassion, prayers, and support given to Dale and his family; and also thank his home healthcare friends who cared for him over the years.
