Charles Patrick Ehli (known affectionately as Charlie or Chuck), 72, of Bismarck, passed away on April 15, 2024, at St. Gabriel’s Community, Bismarck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, April 19, at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary, Bismarck, ND, with Father Jake Magnuson as celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 18, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at Bismarck Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service at 6:00.  Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Charles was born on November 22, 1951, in Bismarck, ND to Eva (Gerhardt) and Frank Ehli.  He attended Bismarck High School.

He was easy-going and loved being a prankster.  He very convincingly sent more than one person to the store in search of blinker fluid for their car.  Not sure that Fay ever found any!  Thanks to his unending knowledge of cars, Jessie enjoyed driving home from the bus stop with her flashers blinking and horn blaring.

Chuck enjoyed anything motorized, including classic cars and Harleys.  He spent many August weekends on his Harley in the Black Hills of SD during the annual Sturgis Rally. This much enjoyed tradition provided him with very fond memories and crazy stories.

His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.  Dad ran a tight ship and had high expectations.  Even so, he always had time for his family.  He spent countless weekends camping, boating, and picnicking with family and friends.  He also enjoyed deer hunting and watching the Denver Broncos while commenting how bad they were.  Pizza burgers, flying style, from Big Boy were another one of his favorites.

Chuck is survived by his daughters, Fay (Andrew) Urbana of Highlands Ranch, CO and Jessie (Steven Jr.) Gutsch of Highlands Ranch, CO; son Wyatt Ehli of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren: Madison and Ben Urbana, Ethan and Madelyn Gutsch, and Cooper Ehli; and siblings Francis Ehli, Phil Ehli, Patty (Ehli) Belverstone, Jerry Ehli.

He is preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, John Swanson; and sister, Sheila Tibke.
