Eugene (Gene) Kruckenberg went home to meet the Lord April 4th, 2024 at 2:05am with family at his side.

Born October 17th, 1938, Loveland CO. He was the son of Samuel and Alvina (Gutknecht) Kruckenberg. Gene (also called Jackson by his brothers and sisters) was raised on the family farm close to Hazen and near the Kruckenberg family homestead that was est. in 1888. Gene proudly joined and served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1967. He was awarded Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Sharpshooter (RL 3.5), Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin) and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Berlin).

In February 1966 he married June Fischer. He was a long term resident of Bismarck where he raised his family. Gene loved the Lord and his family with all his heart and strength. His grandkids always made him smile. He cherished his time with them. He was a thoughtful giver and would always have a special gift for someone. He started his own private small business (Central Water) in 1976 which he owned and operated for 43 years until he closed in 2019. Gene was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved deer and pheasant hunting with family, friends and his dog Max.

Gene was known for stopping for a cup of coffee to enjoy conversation with friends. He always had a great story to tell. His real passion however here on earth was his horses. He drove to the farm daily and he enjoyed riding or simply playing with them. He always had a horse treat in his pocket.

Gene was a fighter and loved and stood for freedom. He fought many kinds of battles in his life and he powered through them with amazing strength. Family and friends were at his side as he fought his final battle with dementia.  It may appear that dementia won but he has won true freedom as he now has that Heavenly mansion and crown. No more clouded thoughts or earthly struggles. He is eternally free!

Gene is survived by his children; Jay (Angela) Kruckenberg, Baldwin, North Dakota, Jada (Jacob) Fred, Lincoln, North Dakota; grandchildren Ty, Donte, Beau, Mya, Logan, Colt, Wyatt, and Sam Kruckenberg, Baldwin North Dakota, Blaine, Payton, and Allyssa Fred, Lincoln, North Dakota; brothers, Larry (Linda) Kruckenberg, Apopka, Florida, Marvin (Diane) Kruckenberg, Bismarck, North Dakota; sister-in-law, Gloria Kruckenberg, Bismarck, North Dakota and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and foster grandchildren.

Gene is proceeded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Gerald; sister Janice (Aho) and many other family and dear friends.
