Cynthia “Cyndi” Ann Olson, 61, of Bismarck, ND passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2024 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7th at the Bismarck Funeral Home located at 3723 Lockport Street, Bismarck, ND 58503, starting at 5:00 pm CST, which will be followed by a Rosary and Vigil Service at 7:00 pm CST.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 8th at 11:00 am CST at Pro-Cathedral of St. Mary Catholic Church, located on 806 E. Broadway, Bismarck, ND 58501. Following the service, a lunch gathering will be held at the church. The family will be hosting a private burial service in the coming weeks.

Cyndi was born on June 12, 1962, to William and Maria Bustos in Commerce City, Colorado, where she grew up alongside her six elder siblings. Her family and community of Commerce City were an important part of Cyndi’s life.

On April 3, 1982, she gave birth to her first son, Jacob Anthony Bustos. The special bond Jacob and Cyndi shared was full of love and something Cyndi kept close to her heart.

In 1989, Cyndi met her husband Kirk Olson and they were married on May 11, 1991 in Denver, Colorado. They have been married for 32 years. On April 29, 1992, Cyndi gave birth to twins–Seth and Sierra Olson. In 1994, Kirk and Cyndi moved from Denver and made their home in Bismarck, North Dakota. On July 11, 1995, Cyndi gave birth to their son Cole Olson.

Family was everything to Cyndi and nothing was more important to her than her children and grandson, Jett Olson. Cyndi’s proudest moments were watching the various accomplishments of her children and grandson. Cyndi’s children and grandson were reminded everyday how loved and cherished they were. Cyndi enjoyed hosting family for numerous holidays, visiting with friends, cooking, decorating, and traveling to Denver to see her family.

Cyndi’s faith and spirituality were a guiding light in her life. Cyndi was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her warm smile and gentle demeanor touched the lives of all who knew her. She was known for her kindness, selflessness, and always making others feel valued and loved. For those who loved Cyndi, the loss of this incredibly kind soul is immeasurable. She was the rock and matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed.

Cyndi was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jacob Bustos; mother, Maria Bustos; father, William Bustos; brother, William M. Bustos Jr., and mother-in-law, Della Olson.

Cyndi is survived by her husband, Kirk Olson; daughter, Sierra (Evan) Kasson; sons, Seth and Cole Olson; her grandson, Jett Olson; father-in-law, Jerry Olson; her brothers, Melvin (Sherree) Bustos, Rudy Bustos, Tony (Rita) Bustos, Michael (Diane) Bustos; sister, Theresa Bustos; sisters-in-law, Renae Ely and Elizabeth Bustos; brother-in-law, Laif (Kathy) Olson; as well as her many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that she cared for deeply.
