Grant Riba, 72, Minot, formerly of Balfour, died Monday, February 5, 2024 at his home.

Grant was born in Balfour, ND to George and Alpha (Kjos) Riba. He was raised on the family farm near Balfour and moved to Minot in 1972.  He became employed with the City of Minot in 1972, working first in the sanitation department and eventually becoming a heavy equipment operator. Grant retired in 2006. 

He was once married to Tamara Larson. From this union two daughters were born. Grant was united in marriage to Patricia McDowell in 2012. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on lawn mowers, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his grandkids. He was also a collector of many things. He loved to fish and hunt and bagged his first moose in 2019.  He used to ride motorcycle and was a former member of the New Horizon’s Biker group.

Grant is survived by: his wife; daughters, Krystle (Jacob) Foster, Surrey; Natasha (Eric) Dailey, Burlington, 4 grandchildren: Madison, Colton, Bridger & McKenna; sister, Wendy (Tim) Felt, Fargo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy Davis and brother, Darrell Lehse.

Memorial service: Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
At his request there will not be a viewing, however friends may sign a memorial register book one hour prior to the start of his service on Saturday.
