Florence Rosemary Thor, 87, Minot, died Thursday, February 8, 2024 in a Minot Hospital.
Florence was born October 21,1936 at McClusky, ND the daughter of August and Rosa (Hausauer) Doerr. She was raised and educated in Bismarck and graduated from Bismarck High School in 1954. She attended Bismarck Junior College taking business classes during the summers.
Florence was employed for a short time with First National Bank in Bismarck prior to her marriage to Marlin Thor on April 6, 1957. They moved to Minot and she began employment at Union National Bank.
They raised their family of three children in Minot and she was employed locally with Minot Drug and Central Pharmacy. She had also worked as a housekeeper for Dr Gordon and Carly Olson and Harris and Ardis Kenner in Minot. They spent many winters in Apache Junction, AZ. Marlin died June 13, 2005.
Florence was a member of Augustana Lutheran and transferred the membership to Christ Lutheran after the flood of 2011. She was active in the Church with the altar guild and taught Sunday School. She had also been a member of a local bridge club, the Red Hat Society and Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, dancing and playing cards.
Her loving family includes, children, Lori Thor and Randy Thor, both of Minot, Sandi (David) Silverman, Lantana, TX; 3 grandchildren: Justin Johnson, Allison (Matt) Liberio and Michael (Kayla) Silverman; Vernon’s wife, Autumn Kroh; 11 great grandchildren: Abagail. Christian, Faith, Draven, Madilyn, Madison, Brooklyn, Braylee, Cameron, Jack & Sydney; sisters in law, Marlene Doerr, Eagan, MN and Jackie Doerr, Glendale, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 48 years; a grandson, Vernon Kroh; brothers, Jacob, Reynold, Emil, Melvin, Adolph, Roy, Almer and Harold; sisters, Theresa Koeller, Lea Grindy, Dorothy Zander.
Celebration of Life Service: Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. A livestream of the service can be viewed by going to https://www.christlutheranminot.org/church-online/
Interment: ND Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan later in the Spring.
Visitation: Wednesday, February 14th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
