Steven Belcher

Steven A. Belcher, 65, Minot, died Sunday, January 14, 2024, in his home.

Steven was born June 23, 1958, in Fargo, ND. He was raised in Minot by his parents Willis and Corinne (Pankratz) Belcher. Steve attended school in Minot and graduated from Minot High School in 1976.

After high school, Steve moved to Big Sky, Montana where he started his lifelong career in maintenance.  He also worked as a ski instructor while on the slopes for more than a decade.

Steve enlisted into the US Army on April 23, 1991. He served overseas in Germany and Bosnia. He was honorably discharged on September 6, 1998 and returned to Minot.

Steve was united in marriage to MonaRay Tompers on August 28, 1999. They made their home in Minot and enjoyed the outdoors together hunting, camping or simply taking in the sunshine on the porch.

Steve continued his career path in maintenance at Trinity Hospital, Bethal Lutheran Nursing home, The Grand Hotel and most recently Balfour Beatty Communities.

Steve was an active member of the Minot Masonic Lodge Star In The West #33 and The Minot Kem Shriners. He was always generous with his time to those in need.

Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to ‘tinker’ on anything. He will be missed deeply by all who were blessed to share in his life.

Steve is survived by his daughters Katrina (fiancé Mitch Ofsthun) Belcher, Minot and Shauna (Vaughn) Hoffman, West Fargo, ND; grandchildren Kaelyn and Lexi Hoffman; sister Kimberly (Noel) Hanenberg, Drake, ND; sister-in-law Lea Tompers, Richmond, KY; brother-in-law Nathan Tompers, Minot, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and wife MonaRay in 2016.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held in the spring at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
