Kathy Jerome, 65, of Garrison, passed away December 31, 2023, at her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, January 5, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison, ND.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 5:00-6:30 PM at Thompson Funeral Home, Garrison. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Kathleen Marie Metz was born on October 3, 1958, at Garrison Memorial Hospital to Curtis and Ramona (Jungling) Metz where she had three siblings: Terry, Brenda, and Steve. After Curtis passed, Ramona married Herbert Mautz and later welcomed two more siblings: Randy and Danny. She grew up on the farm northeast of Garrison where there are too many fun farm memories to mention.
Kathy married Rick Jerome June 5, 2004, and they reside in Garrison, North Dakota. They enjoyed traveling, camping, and just spending time with family and friends. Kathy had two daughters from a previous marriage, Renae and Heather. After marrying Rick, she gained two more children Tasha and Chris. Her pride and joy were spoiling her 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren along with her dog Shadow.
In her younger years, Kathy was a member of the Garrison Wagon Train. She competed in many horse shows and her sister, Brenda, says that according to her she had the fastest horse, Missy, and was able to show off all her ribbons that she won. She was also a member of the Garrison Rodeo Club. She was an amazing piano/organ player and played for the church. As she got older, Kathy stuck to her painting projects around the house and could crack out a crossword puzzle like nobody’s business. She loved to garden and took pride in all her flowers. Spending time with her family playing games and cards was one of her favorite past times, along with quick trips to the casino and shopping.
Kathy was employed at S & J Hardware in Garrison until her passing. She loved chatting with all the customers while helping them shop. She was a friend to all. Prior to S & J she took pride in her waitressing at Lakeroad Restaurant and Stoney End. And wouldn’t you know….Chatty Kathy was a telemarketer in her earlier years as well.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Rick Jerome, Garrison; daughter, Renae (Kelly) Wimer and children, Olivia and William, West Fargo; daughter, Heather (Brent) Schenfisch and children, Robin (Jordan), Dakota (Cierra), Bryton, Shelby (Alec), Dillon, Bristol, Garrison; step-daughter, Tasha Jerome and children, Lexi and Sophia, Garrison; and step-son, Chris Jerome and children, Khloe and Tristan, Garrison; mother, Ramona Mautz, Garrison; siblings, Brenda (Steve) Huston, Garrison, Steve (Terri) Metz, Mandan, Randy (Darla) Mautz, Garrison, Danny (Cindy) Mautz, Garrison; mother and Father in law, Rita and Lawrence Jerome, Garrison; sisters in law, Laurita Werven, Cavalier, Jana (Larry) Seidler; along with numerous nieces and nephews and great-grandchildren Oakley and Isabella Schenfisch.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Metz; stepfather, Herbert Mautz, brother, Terry Metz; grandparents, John and Martha Jungling; niece, Rebecca Huston; sister in law, Jodie Mondor.
