Diantha (Challgren) Nodland, 91, Bismarck, passed away on January 1, 2024 at her home in the loving care of her family and CHI Health at Home.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, 1402 Avenue C East, Bismarck.

Diantha was born January 8, 1932 to Axel B. and Marjorie (Lundin) Challgren at Leith, North Dakota. She grew up in Kiester, Minnesota, attended and graduated from Kiester High School, where she participated in drama, was a cheerleader and played the drums in the band.

She was married to Laverne H. (Bud) Nodland on March 27, 1951. They spent 2 years in Stevens Point, Wisconsin where their two daughters were born, then moved to Mandan, ND where their son was born, finally moving to Bismarck, where they made their home for over 60 years.

She worked at Faith Lutheran Church as a secretary and then worked for Orser, Olson and St. Peter as a Secretary/Receptionist for 24 years until she retired. They spent many years camping with the family until they purchased a cabin on Lake Tschida where they enjoyed time with family. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church until her passing, participating in choir, bible studies, and Altar Guild.

She is survived by her children, Robin Nodland (Gene Palmisano), Angela (Timothy) Heaton, and Charles Nodland; 6 grandsons, Ryan (Jamie) Preszler, Tyler (Abby) Preszler, Daniel Heaton ( Crystal Karlstad), Matthew (Mateena) Heaton, Benjamin (Megan) Heaton, Eric Nodland (Mallory Woodcock); great-grandchildren, Carson Preszler,  Beau Preszler, Ewen Heaton, Rylee Heaton, Kodee Heaton, Jake Heaton; brother, Col. Stanley Challgren USMC, Ret.; sisters-in-law, Thelma Stene, Suzie Forde, Yvonne Gemaehlich.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws Tennis and Esther (Folven) Nodland; her brothers Dwain Challgren, James Challgren; sisters, Marlene Poitevent, Lorrane Thorson.
