Ricky D. Schnase

Ricky D. Schnase, 74, of Minot, North Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Trinity Nursing Home. He was born on June 29, 1949 at Trinity Hospital in Minot to Edward A. Schnase and Edith M. (Selk) Schnase.

Rick graduated from Minot Senior High School in 1967 and from Minot State University in 1972. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Minot.

Rick was employed at Northland Bus Service. He drove the students safely from Minot Air Force Base to the Magic City Campus for 39+ years. In all those years Rick never missed a day of work. Upon retirement, Rick found his “dream job” at Bingorama.

Rick was an avid Twins and Vikings fan. He could talk for hours in great detail about all the players and their statistics. From grade school through college, he enjoyed playing baseball, softball and bowling. He formed many lifelong friendships during that time.

Rick enjoyed movies and music. As a young boy he went with neighborhood friends to the movies at all the local theaters. He very much enjoyed going to the Empire Theater where his Grandma Selk was the “Popcorn Lady”. With the advent of movies on VHS and later DVD and BluRay he amassed an impressive collection over the years.

Rick had a kind soul and was a good person. He was very dedicated to his mother and was her primary caregiver in her later years. He also cared deeply for his cats, Fluffy and Buddy. They gave him many years of love and companionship.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and mother, Edith. He is survived by his sister, Nancylee Ramsey, Sierra Vista, AZ., Nephews, James E. Naylor Ryan, Kansas City, Missouri, Phillip D. Naylor, Olathe, Kansas and numerous cousins.

Rick expressed no desire for a funeral service, his wish was for his relatives and friends to remember him in their own way. Interment will be scheduled for the spring/summer of 2024.
