Richard Peterson

Richard Peterson, 72, Rural Makoti died peacefully on July 12, 2021 at his home with his wife at his side.

Richard Paul Peterson was born in Minot, ND on June 14, 1949 to Paul and Nanna (Carlson) Peterson. He was the youngest of five children. He was raised on the family farm north of Makoti, ND and he dedicated his whole life to working with his family there. One of his greatest joys was attending Our Redeemers Lutheran Brethren Church, where he served as an usher for many years.

In 1972, Rich worked with a group of people to start a Christian coffee shop in Minot. Many young people attended the worship and share times at the coffee shop. It was a blessing for all involved. In 1979, Rich found a new passion with the Makoti Ambulance and studied to be an Emergency Medical Technician. He then continued as an EMT and also became an instructor/educator for up and coming EMTs in the New Town, Parshall, Makoti, and Garrison area. In 1988, Rich married Denise Wooldridge. They were blessed with five wonderful children and raised them on the family farm, and taught them their faith in God and the rewards of hard work. Rich then received his CDL, one of his greatest accomplishments, and started driving school bus for the North Shore School District. He upgraded his class B CDL to a class A CDL and started driving charter bus for Northland Charter and semi- truck and trailer for Plaza- Makoti Equity Elevator until he retired in 2020.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Nanna Peterson, brother: Edward, daughter: Jennifer and two unnamed infant children whom he has now met for the first time upon his entry through the pearly gates.

Richard’s loving family includes his wife of 33 years: Denise, children: Joshua Peterson (Raquel Fruge), John and Leta (Diede) Peterson, Julia Peterson, Joseph Peterson (Lindsey Birke) and Janene Peterson; grandchildren: Daniel, Jessica, and David Peterson, siblings: Shirley Harbaugh, Sherman Peterson and Darrel Peterson and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews as many as the stars that fill the sky.
