Curtis “Curt” Moore

Curtis Larry Moore, 69, Minot, formerly of Powers Lake, ND, died Friday, December 22, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Curt was born June 11, 1954 in Powers Lake, North Dakota the son of Kenneth and Margaret (Springan) Moore. He was raised and educated in Powers Lake, graduating from Powers Lake High School in 1972. He continued his education at Minot Business College, then completed the electrical apprenticeship program, eventually earning the title of master electrician. Curt spent the majority his career working at the ADM plant in Velva as an employee of Wheeler Contracting.

Curt was united in marriage to Gayle Kavlie on December 22, 1979 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Brethren Church in Minot. Curt and Gayle raised two children, Paula and Charles. 

Curt was a longtime member of Our Redeemer’s in Minot, and loved visiting with friends and strangers (who never stayed strangers for long!) over coffee and donuts on Sunday mornings. But his pride and joy was his family—and he made sure they knew it. He was the biggest cheerleader for his kids, an endlessly fun grandpa, and the compassionate helper everyone wanted around in crisis and in calm. 

His loving family includes, wife of 44 years, Gayle; daughter, Paula (Matt) Strom and their kids Lauren and Fisher, Minot; son Charles (Carolyn) Moore and their kids Meredith, Nolan, Felicity, Beatrice, and Dashiell, Minot; siblings Diane (Vern) Johnson, Carol (Doug) Hille, and Bonnie (Morris) Pung; in addition to several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alan.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Our Redeemer’s Christian School in Minot.

Memorial service: Friday, December 29, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Redeemer’s Church, Minot.
