Lanny Arlan Wade, 85, Minot, former longtime Architect, died Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Lanny was born December 13, 1938 at Westhope, ND, the son of Glen and Gertie (Kirby) Wade.  He was raised on the family farm near Mohall and graduated from Mohall High School in 1957.  He continued his schooling at NDSU in Fargo, where he graduated in 1963 with a B.A. degree in Architectural Studies.

Lanny was united in marriage to Linda Wieman on June 11, 1961 in the Mohall Methodist Church. They moved to Minot in 1963, where he was first employed with Kielhack & Fougner Architects and then joined Bob Anderson in 1967 to create the architectural firm that became known as Anderson, Wade & Whitty. Lanny would receive numerous awards for his work, some of which included the ND-AIA Lifetime Achievement Award. He retired in 1999 after 36 years in the Architectural Profession.

Lanny was a member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot, where he served as a Trustee and on the Missions Committee. He was also active locally with the Minot Area Development Corp, Minot Family YMCA, Lord’s Cupboard and Meals on Wheels program.  He had also been a member of the Minot Aircraft Modelers, serving the group as President in 1996 & 1999. He was also active with the Colin Brown Y’s Men and working many weekends at the Y Camp. He enjoyed gardening, building & flying radio-controlled airplanes, woodworking and building stained glass panels. Blessed be his memory.

His loving family includes: wife of 62 years, Linda; children, Morey (Susan) Wade, Tampa, FL, Michele Wade (Tom Brown), River Falls, WI; 8 grandchildren to include, Taylor, Ashley (Emanuel), Colby (Autumn), Pat (Brittany), Matt, Laura (Dan), Gavin and Allie; great granddaughter, Brooklyn; brother in law, Richard Kinzley, Mohall & sister in law, Joanne Wade, Las Vegas; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lanny was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Coleen Kinzley and brother, Hal Wade.

Celebration of Life service: Monday, December 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot. To view a livestream of the service, access https://www.vincentumc.com/watch
Interment: Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall.
Visitation: Sunday, December 17th from 3:00-5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants donations are preferred to the Lord’s Cupboard or Vincent Methodist Church, both Minot.
