Todd Hanson

Todd Anthony Hanson, 65, Largo Florida, formally from Minot, died on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in a St. Petersburg, FL hospital following complications from diabetes.

Todd graduated from Minot High School in 1976 and attended Brown Institute in Minneapolis where he graduated with a two-year degree in bioengineering.  He began work as a bioengineer at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota.  He was also employed by St. Lukes Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota before he moved to Florida and continued working in the bioengineering field until his death.

Todd was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He loved taking his extra special loyal canine companion Leica with him on these adventures.  He had a tremendous appreciation of art, music, and movies. He also enjoyed golfing, playing trivia, and attending numerous concerts. Todd traveled the world and immersed himself in the cultures of many different countries. He was a car buff and stayed in the know with all the new technology.

Todd was a devoted sports fan, especially hockey where he frequently would attend his great niece Olivia, and great nephews Owen’s and Oakdin’s hockey games.  Todd also made a point to attend all his nieces’ and nephews’ graduations, weddings, baptisms, sporting events etc. 

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Odin, and Delores (Schulz) Hanson and his beloved niece Chandra (Hanson) Behm.

He is survived by: his siblings Kyle (Celeste) Hanson of Minot N. Dak, Signe (Jim) Schmelzer of Rochester, MN and Julie Thrailkill of Minot, North Dakota.  He is lovingly remembered by his nephews and niece, Danny (Tasha) Hanson, Adam Schmelzer, Maija (Greg) Trnka, Jacob (Sophia) Thrailkill, Liam (Brooklyn) Thrailkill and Matt Thrailkill. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews: Olivia, Owen and Oakdin Hanson, Ethan and Avery Behm, Odin M. Thrailkill.

He leaves behind his special friend Norma A Zarra who cared for him and was by his bedside when he died.  He also will be missed by numerous friends and relatives.

Todd, hopefully you are resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.  We miss you and love you.

There will be a memorial service later in the spring, which will be communicated via the funeral home, newspaper, and Facebook.

Todd will be buried in the Hanson Family Plot at Oak Grove Cemetery in Fergus Falls, MN
